THE TIMELINE OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH): BEFORE REVELATION

Introduction Meccan Period Medina Period

The year of the Elephant (around 570):

- 'Abd ALLAH, the father of prophet Muhammad (pbuh), died at the age of 25 and before prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was born.

- Abraha of Yemen headed to Mecca to destroy it, and was defeated by 'Abd Al Muttaleb with the help of Allah (swt) (Surat Al Feel).

- The birth of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on Monday, which is equal to 12 of Rabee' Al Awwal of the year of the Elephant ('Aam Al Feel).

Before the delegation by 36 years (574):

- The split of prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) chest incident. Angels came and took out the black dot that was in prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) heart. He was 4 years old.

Before the delegation by 34 years (576):

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) traveled with his mother Aamina to Al Madina. He was 6 years old.

- Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) mother died between Mecca and Al Madina.

- The adoption of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by his grandfather 'Abd Al Muttaleb.

Before the delegation by 32 years (578):

- Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) grandfather, 'Abd Al Muttaleb, died.

- Abu Taalib, prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) uncle, adopted him when he was 8 years old.

Before the delegation by 28 years (582):

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) went with Abu Taalib to The Shaam countries (upper Middle East) during the summer time and he was 12 years old.

- Buĥaira, a monk, who heard about prophet Muhammad (pbuh), saw him and told his uncle that he will be the mercy of all mankind. He also warned him not to go to The Romans land and to take him back to Mecca, because they would kill him if they saw him.

Before the delegation by 20 years (590):

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) participated in his very first battle, "Al Fijaar", at the age of 20. However, he didn't fight. He was collecting lances and was giving them to his uncle and his group.

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) witnessed the Alliance of "Al Fudhool", 4 months after Al Fijaar battle, which Quraysh, agreed to help the innocents and show justice.

Before the delegation by 15 years (595):

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) traveled to Al Shaam for tradings, with the money of Khadija bint Khuwayled (ra).

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) married Khadija bint Khuwayled (ra). He was 25 years old and she was 40.

Before the delegation by 5 years (605):

- The rebuilding of Al Kaaba, and choosing prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to make justice among the tribes to put the black stone at Al Kaaba. He was 35 years old.

Before the delegation by 2 years (608):

- Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was in the cave of ĥiraa', where he was devoting himself to the worship of Allah (swt). This was the beginning of prophecy.
