Multiplication is based on repeating the same number with the other number given. For example, 3 x 2 3 will be repeated by the other given number, which is 2. Therefore, 3 will be repeated 2 times. 3 x 2 = 6 3 + 3 = 6
You can also reverse it. You will start from 2 and repeat 2 three times. 2 x 3 = 6 2 + 2 + 2 = 6
In Multiplication, if you multiply any number with 1, you will get the same answer of that number. That's because you repeat that number once. 5 x 1 = 5 5 = 5 (5 can't be repeated twice, so it will remain by itself).
You don't add 1 to 5 like the examples above. 5 x 1 = 5 5 + 1 = 6 (wrong answer. Because you are not repeating the number in this equation, you are adding one to it).
